About me
Dr. Suzanne Hayes is the lower school director of learning services at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, TN. In this role, she partners closely with the school's speech-language pathologist, the learning services team, teachers, parents, and private therapists and tutors to ensure that each student receives the individualized support needed to thrive. As a Certified Dyslexia Interventionist trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, she also provides dyslexia intervention for students with language-based learning differences.
With more than 40 years of experience in K–8 public and private education, Suzanne brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her work. Throughout her career, she has served as a classroom teacher, reading interventionist, instructional coach, and professional development facilitator. She is currently in her ninth year at Battle Ground Academy.
Suzanne earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Vanderbilt University, an M.Ed. with a concentration in Literacy from Austin Peay State University, and an Ed.D. in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University. In addition, she holds National Board Certification in Literacy. She is passionate about fostering collaborative partnerships among educators, school-based specialists, families, and outside providers to create coordinated support systems that help every student succeed.
