About me
Kathryn Outlaw is the head of middle school and director of student support services at Girls Preparatory School, where she also serves on the senior leadership team. She holds an Ed.S. in School Psychology and is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Independent School Leadership at Vanderbilt University.
A native of Memphis, TN, Kathryn attended an all-girls school and brings both personal and professional insight into the value of girls’ education. She began her career as a licensed school psychologist, serving PreK–12 students and families throughout the Chattanooga area before transitioning into independent school leadership. During her time at GPS, she has served in multiple leadership roles, including learning specialist, department chair, middle school dean of students, and head varsity cross country coach, leading the program to a state championship in 2020.
Kathryn’s work focuses on student support, executive functioning, wellness, learner-centered education, and building systems that help students thrive in high-achieving school environments. She is the founder of GPS Ignite, a comprehensive support program for middle school girls with dyslexia and executive functioning challenges. Known for her relational leadership style, Kathryn leads with empathy, clarity, and high expectations while building strong partnerships with students, families, and faculty.
