About me
Alyssa Johnson, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, is a licensed professional counselor, mental health therapist, and school counselor at Episcopal Day School in Augusta, GA. She brings experience from both clinical and school settings to her work supporting children, adolescents, and families, with a particular focus on the social-emotional and mental health needs of students during early childhood and adolescence. She has been working with children and families for over 10years.
At Episcopal Day School, Alyssa developed and co-facilitates Real Talk, a structured framework designed to create intentional, relationship-centered opportunities for middle school students to discuss the challenges, questions, and experiences of adolescence. Through Real Talk, she works to elevate student voice, strengthen belonging and relationships, and provide proactive opportunities for students to develop the skills and self-awareness needed to navigate adolescence.
Alyssa is passionate about moving student well-being beyond reactive support and toward intentional schoolwide practice. Her work focuses on helping schools translate an understanding of adolescent development into meaningful, developmentally responsive experiences that foster connection, character, and a positive school culture. Alyssa brings a practical, compassionate perspective to her work and is especially passionate about equipping educators and school communities with tools they can use to support students’ mental health and well-being. She is committed to making mental health support accessible, developmentally appropriate, and integrated into the broader school experience.
