Schools are increasingly navigating moments when students’ sense of safety and belonging is disrupted: an identity-based incident on campus, a regional crisis (e.g. the L.A. wildfires) or a divisive national event. As administrators coordinate a response plan, faculty are expected to show up ready to manage classrooms thoughtfully, often feeling uncertain about what to say and how to say it. Learn how to prepare faculty to respond to challenging moments with confidence, clarity, and care and ensure cohesion in the school’s communication and approaches. The session will include practical language strategies, facilitation moves, and classroom practices to best support students processing difficult events.
