ADHD is everywhere,  but is the conversation keeping up with the neuroscience? In this session, licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Scott Hamilton will drop the latest research on one of the most diagnosed  and most misunderstood  conditions affecting students today.

This session will cover current research findings on ADHD: updated prevalence data, evolving diagnostic criteria, cutting-edge pharmacotherapy, and the emerging concept of Cognitive Disengagement Syndrome. Dr. Hamilton will examine what actually works (evidence-based school and home strategies, effective accommodations, and comorbidity considerations including ADHD's frequent overlap with anxiety, learning disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder) and what doesn't, calling out popular interventions and widely-held assumptions that lack empirical support. Special attention will be given to how updated diagnostic frameworks and treatment approaches can inform the work of learning specialists across educational settings. Attendees will gain current, actionable knowledge they can apply immediately in their schools and share with parents.
